The 3rd Gidea Park Christmas lunch is one of our oldest traditions. It’s a chance for ex Scouts, young and old to catch up with old friends and remember some of the mad things we did together.
As an event, it started in the 1950’s when the 3rd Gidea Park Rover Crew (17-24 year olds) held a Christmas Dinner for the first time. From 1967 until 2003 it was run by our Venture Scout Unit who expanded it to include current and ex leaders as well as ex Rovers and Venture Scouts. Since 2003 it has been run by the Scout Leaders with the help of our Explorer Scout Young Leaders. These days the lunch is for anyone over 13 who is, or used to be, a member of 3rd Gidea Park. The lunch is organised and prepared by the Scout Leaders, Young leaders and older Scouts.
For each meal a menu is produced allong with a list of Toasts. We have a large collection of menus and the toast lists real like a who's who of 3rd Gidea Park.
