The walk from the cable car station is an uphill slog, but not particularly difficult. The paths are well defined and easy to walk on. The Scouts take turns navigating under the watchful eyes of Dave, who was leading group 1.

As the path approaches the ridge the ground gets steeper, and the ridge itself is quite sharp.

The weather was great in the morning but as we approached the top of First it was getting overcast. Luckily group one managed to arrive just before the clouds. From the top of First there are superb views of the Doldenhorn and Bluemlisalp group as well as the Balmhorn. It is also possible to see the Hockenhorn, one of the larger peaks we climbed during the holiday. After a short lunch break at the top, group one caught sight of group two as they moved off.
