Day 7

Meanwhile the Explorers and Networkers nipped up to bag a few more huts for various awards and climb some more interesting paths.  Some of the Networkers missed the Stand and First hike and so needed an acclimatisation hike before our trip to the Glacier.

THE DOLDENHORN HUT
On every visit to Kandersteg we take a group photo on the same wooden bridge.  Sometimes there has been water in the stream, sometimes there hasn't.  This year most of us missed out on the opportunity to visit this favorite photo opportunity of ours, as the day we were due to go up there, was the day a helicopter had been hired to air lift tree trunks off the mountain side.

A PATH WITH A VIEW

Once again the Explorers discovered that when walking a "Blue route" the Swiss's idea of a foot path leaves a lot to be desired.  Here, half a metal latter and some metal cable as a hand rail are used to climb up to a ledge from where the path continues across the face of a cliff. The path is narrow, normally sloping away from the cliff and is frequently acompanied by a cable screwed to the rock.
