Once the march arrive in town
they join the local celebrations. The center piece of these is a huge
bonfire. As well as the bonfire in the valley, all the huts and cheeseries
in the mountains around the town light fires and set off fireworks. |
|
The formal celebrations involve various traditional Swiss performances
and readings. During these there are usually a band of people setting
off fireworks in random directions, trying their hardest to injure some
of the crowd.

Finally once all the official celebrations are over, everyone makes their own way back to the campsite, and the RVU usually find it takes them slightly longer than everyone else. |
