 GETTING CREATIVE
scouts

Thursday November 20th

The Scouts have been getting creative. The older Scouts have been creating a festive stop motion animation, meanwhile the young scouts have been learning to make and pain Warhammer figures.  We have even found time for some Scouts to volunteer sorting stock for the foodbank.

 COOKING PRACTICE
scouts

Thursday October 2nd

The district cooking competition is on its way and so we have decided to do a lot of practicing. This week we were making a rather tasty curry. We held an inter patrol competition. All the curries were verry very good, but it was the quality of the rice that split our teams.

 RAFT BUILDING

Rafting1

Thursday July 17th

Time for a raft building exercise. Four teams of Scouts attended our meeting at Thriftwood where we built four rafts and attempted to complete parts of the nautical skills badge. It had been a warm day and some of the scouts were eyeing to cool lake before we even started.

It would be fair to say that the teams had varying degrees of success. Those that got stuck in and gave it a go, found that they needed very little scrutiny from the leaders before launching. And some of them even got off the lake dry afterwards. Those that hoped someone else would build it for them got on the water a little later and tended to have a muddy bath! RAFT

 CAMP SITE SERVICE
scouts

Service

Thursday June 19th

The Scouts were back at Crow Camp, this time to do a bit of camp site service. They were picking up rubble that had been spread around some parts of the site that have been off limits since the old kitchen area was demolished. This will be a small step to unblocking the next phase of site improvements.

Whilst there, the Scouts also learned about effective campsite layout for the camper's badge and ended the meeting with a well-earned wide game. Site Layout

 TENT PITCHING

ICE 1

Thursday June 5th

This week the Scouts were practicing their patrol tent pitching skills. Many of the Scouts had never used a mallet to set a tent peg before so this was useful practice. Once checked the tents were packed ready for summer camp.

As the nights are warmer and brighter it was time for our annual trip to Raphael's park to littler pick the parts others are afraid to pick.

Scouts

We were once again supporting the Friends of Raphael and Lodge Farm parks by litter picking the exposed part of Blacks Brook. As well as the usual assortment of crisp packets and drinks containers we found socks, hanging baskets and a fully inflated space hopper!

SCOUTS

THURSDAY MARCH 27th

The Scouts were at Crow Camp tonight practicing backwoods cooking skills. This was all the more a challenge because it got dark shortly after we arrived. A couple of teams created tasty meals, others were a little less organised and ran out of time.
