Whilst the Scouts,
Explorers and Networkers played in lake
Oeschinensee some of our more experienced
walkers decided to start the camp with a more adventurous
hike.
Dave had rekkied the "blue
route" up Bire a few weeks earlier and along
with Andy L led two small groups to the
summit.
Blue routes are not for the
faint hearted. They are guaranteed to include
sections where the use of your hands is essential. Not
what we British regard as a footpath. The
section in the picture on the right is just as precarious
as it looks. The lake in the background is
Oeschinensee.

This
particular "path" also requires the use of a

The final bit of walking and scrambling was along a ridge to
the summit. From here our intrepid hikers could look
down on lake Oeschinensee as well as across to the Bluemlisalp.
