So all the exterior wall panels were up and the roof was on. The final stages of exterior work could commence.

A contractor was hired to felt the roof for us.

The blue paper allows the walls to breath apparently. These sheets needed to be stapled to all exterior walls.

Then batons of wood were attached onto which the cedar boards would be fixed.

INSIDE THE HALL
A BLUE BUILDING?

In this picture, work on affixing the blue paper has almost finished. The pallets of breeze blocks are for the rear wall.  As this is not normally seen by the public the church allow us to face it with Breeze blocks instead of Cedar.

The Church very kindly allowed us to store the planks of Cedar under the stage in the main church hall. Here, Ross, Dave and John can be seen retrieving the wood.  Ross is hanging through the trap door!

In the picture below all of the blue paper and batons have been fixed and some of the Cedar is now up

When building began the church stipulated that all exterior work on the hall must be completed in under a year. That year started during the previous winter when the trees were felled.

By now it is autumn so time is running out.

Whilst work continued on the exterior of the hall the floor was laid. Thick battens of wood with insulating foam between them hold the floor above the cold concrete base.

The insulation was designed to keep the new hall warm in Winter. This has been a partial success. It has however excelled in keeping the place freezing in the summer.
