Climbing is an odd game.  Its not really competitive in any way and everyone comes away feeling that they have tested themselves or stretched themselves (and several muscles!).  Its also unusual in that girls are often just as good as, and can be better than the boys.

Steve high up.

Some of the older Venture Scouts at Gidea Park are rather good as Climbing.

New pants please?
Dave and Ross decided to show off by lead climbing a multi pitch route.  This showed everyone that climbing can be a tad more challenging than nipping up top roped routes.

The younger ventures didn't totally avoid climbing as is shown by this picture.

Then Andy and Geoff decide to round the day off by setting up a monster abseil route.  Just to get the last bit of adrenalin flowing.

After a troublesome start that entertained the RVU (I've never seen them run so fast) Our Patrol Leader abseiled without a problem.

We got the train to and from the quarry.  This is a country request stop.  If you want the train to pick you up, you must press a button on the platform.

On the way we caught a German train. After Mark initially had a go at the Scouts for sitting in 1st class, he realised that this was German standard class.  Compared to this, British 1st Class leaves a lot to be desired!
