BUILDING THE ROWSWELL HALL

The pictures reproduced here have been scanned from original Cine film. As the film frames are so small the quality isn't excellent but it gives an interesting insight into the 3rd Gidea Park Scout Group in the early 1970s

After using the St Michaels Church main hall for years, in the early 70's we were finally able to start construction of our own hall.  A foundation slab was laid and on March 11th 1973 a plaque was unveiled by the Guide Divisional Commissioner after church parade to commemorate the commencement of work.

Chadwick

Here we have the view back across the carpark showing the original 1928 St Michael's Mission Church which was converted into the first Chadwick Hall when the new parish of St Michaels was created and St Michaels church was built.

That hall was later damaged in a fire and although the right hand end remains, the main part was rebuilt behind, opening up the space between the Chadwick hall and the main hall.
